When is the festival happening?

In Cockermouth on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September 2020

What additional safety measures will be in place in the producers’ market on Main Street?

  • Half the usual number of stalls – 40 instead of 80
  • Stalls facing in alternate directions to allow three clear metres between each one
  • One way system in place for visitors
  • Increased number of stewards to remind shoppers to keep their distance and use the one way system
  • Stewards will wear visors or face coverings, shoppers will be reminded to wear face coverings in shops and stallholders will be provided with free visors
  • Numerous hand sanitiser points, plus sanitiser on all stalls
  • Stalls open until 7pm, and town businesses asked to do the same, to allow shoppers to spread out the times of their visits
  • Allerdale Borough Council’s environmental health officers will be involved in the planning and layout of the market
  • Full risk assessments will be carried out in line with Government guidance and the event plans will change if those guidelines alter between now and the festival weekend.

What about the marquee on Memorial Gardens Car Park?

  • Accessible to ticket holders only
  • Table service for food and drink
  • Tickets must be booked as a ‘bubble’ so family/friends can sit together
  • Chairs and tables cannot be moved
  • Staff and stewards will wear visors
  • Visitors must remain seated unless entering or leaving the venue or using toilet facilities
  • Numerous hand sanitiser points
  • Portable toilets will be sited on the car park
  • Allerdale Borough Council’s environmental health officers will be involved in the planning and layout of the marquee
  • Full risk assessments will be carried out in line with Government guidance and the event plans will change if those guidelines alter between now and the festival weekend.

Event timings:

  • Main Street will close to traffic at the later time of 5.30pm on Friday, 25 September, due to the reduced number of stalls, and will reopen on Sunday evening
  • Market Place will be closed from Saturday morning through to Sunday evening

How Cumbrian businesses can get involved:

  • Take a stall on Main Street – they cost £150 each this year
  • Offer to provide takeaway food and drink for table service in the Memorial Gardens Car Park marquee
  • Get involved with an online demo or video
  • Promote the festival to your customers
  • Get your business involved with offers and special activities over the festival weekend.
