Foodies across the county are looking forward to the county’s biggest culinary treat.
The 2018 Taste Cumbria festival takes place in Cockermouth on Saturday, 29 and Sunday, 30 September.
The main event will include 80 stalls in the producers market on Main Street. In Market Place there will be the hot food court. There will also be a secret gin garden, demonstrations and masterclasses with some of Cumbria’s best chefs, and free town trails to help visitors explore.
One of the highlights will be the exclusive pop-up restaurant which, for the second time, will be held Wordsworth House & Garden. Guests will dine in the historic house’s kitchen with food created by Michelin-starred chef Kevin Tickle from Forest Side in Grasmere. Just 32 guests will have the chance to enjoy this amazing experience at two sittings on Friday, 28 September.
When Cockermouth is blessed with its own brewery it would be madness not to hold a Taste Cumbria beer festival – and there’s the added bonus of the Prosecco and the Pig picnic for those who want a glass of fizz, a cocktail or something to eat too.
Join us at Jennings Brewery for our launch event on Friday night, or take a stroll along there on the Saturday or Sunday to sample some great ales.
The team from Tractor Shed Brewing is bringing together more than 40 Cumbrian beers and ciders to please every palate, along with fizz, wines and soft drinks for those who aren’t fans of a traditional pint. Taste Cumbria also takes place during national Cask Ales Week – that sounds like the perfect excuse for a pint… Cheers!
The Prosecco and the Pig Picnic went down a storm at last year’s Taste Cumbria festival in Cockermouth. This year it’s in a whole new venue – the historic Jennings brewery – and two great Carlisle businesses will be serving up fizz and smoked food loveliness all weekend.
Helen Askew, the every-popular Tipsy Filly, will be in charge of those cocktails – from a simple glass of fizz to something a little bit special. She’s joined by Lee Scrimgeour and the Stonehouse Smokery team who cure, smoke and roast their own delicious meats.
As you tuck in to those cocktails and nibbles (or perhaps something more substantial…), listen to live DJs playing a little soul, funk and groove.
The beer festival opening hours:
Friday 28 Sept – 5pm – 10pm
Saturday 29 Sept – 11am – 10pm
Sunday 30 Sept – Noon – 4pm

A comedy night will take place at Kirkgate Arts on the Friday. Three comedians from the UK circuit, including Taste Cumbria favourite Matt Reed, will take to the stage for what is always a sell-out event.
Around 40,000 people come and join us at Taste Cumbria Cockermouth each year – a sure sign that this is a fantastic event so come along and join us for our fabulous foodie festival!
