We’re really sorry but the 2018 Taste Tynedale festival has been postponed.
A lack of bookings from local producers for the event, due to be held on July 20 and 21 in Hexham Abbey grounds, has prompted the decision but we are determined that it will return bigger and better than ever in 2019.
Edith McColgan, head of events and group marketing at Newsquest Cumbria, said the break would allow time to re-launch the event with a renewed focus.
“We very much hope to bring to the table a completely revised proposal which would celebrate all that is good about Tynedale and Northumberland, and not merely food and drink producers,” she said. “I believe it is an exciting opportunity to deliver a completely bespoke event in Hexham and I very much look forward to discussing this with the town council in the future.”
As well as giving local businesses a platform to promote their produce, the event has also featured live music and demonstrations from local chefs in previous years.
The festival was supported Hexham Town Council. Mayor of Hexham, Councillor Tom Gillanders, added: “By holding their efforts over, they hope to get more local people involved, and make it much more appropriate to Hexham.
“That’s not good news but, on the other hand, it’s not bad news because it means we’re now planning a year ahead.”
We look forward to seeing you all in 2019. Watch this space!
